Lesson 1 of 10
Introduction to Medical Terminology
Medical terminology is the language used by healthcare professionals to communicate accurately and efficiently. Every medical term is built from word parts: roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Understanding these building blocks allows you to decode almost any medical term you encounter, even ones you have never seen before.
For example, the term 'cardiology' breaks down into 'cardio' (heart) + 'logy' (study of). Together it means the study of the heart. This pattern repeats across thousands of medical terms.
